Pregnancy Week 16 - 12.5.12

Written 12.5.12...

This is a busy week but first...

I ate meat?!?! At my dear friends shower a burger actually sounded good, I only ate about 1/3 of it because the soup I had first tasted so sweet I started to feel a little sick. It was also filling. I have been having mustard withdrawals so I'm sure that contributed to the desire for a burger. As always it was lovely to see the girls and run in to old friends, they did a gorgeous job decorating in an adorable nautical theme.

Only a little morning nausea at this point, I hope I am not one of the lucky 15% with nausea past week 16! At a minimum i would like to avoid it in Costa Rica so come on lucky week 17!

We are heading to Costa Rica this week for a vacation and I guess it technically counts as a baby moon. The Hubby and I are so excited to be on a beach and relax. This joint is all inclusive which we have not experienced so we'll see how that goes. I'm thinking it is the best way for a prego lady and her hub to vacation so she can eat all she wants and he can drink all he wants while feeling slightly less guilty about leaving said prego alone on the sober boat than if he was paying for each drink individually.  It is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous there and full of animals like monkeys, sloths, jaguars, and tapirs (kind of like mini elephants mixed with ant eaters, I need to see one!!)

We have another doctors appointment and blood test this week. Nothing too crazy, we meet the doctor (only seen NPs up to this point), ask some questions and hear our little baby boys heartbeat again. I don't really have any questions though, I guess I'll need to come up with some. Last time I told the doctor I didn't really have any questions and my doctor and husband looked at me like I was crazy. It's not my fault that Dr. Google already told me everything I need to know ;)

A few off the top of my head:

          1. What birth/newborn care classes would you recommend?
          2. Should we take a hospital tour?
          3. What type of teas are okay / not okay to drink
          4. Do you recommend any baby books we should read or any reliable websites?
          5. Do you have any recommendations for a pediatrician?

Cravings: Toast (weird), Rice Chex (love/hate relationship right now)

Aversions: Meat ( I know I had some but that's probably all for a while), Rice Chex (love/hate relationship right now)

Weight:   126.8lbs, gain of 3.2 lbs

Pregnancy Week 31 - Written 3.18.13

(This is actually a photo of 30 weeks but who's counting??)

It's been a while since a pregnancy update, these past few months have been busy with work and planning baby things. My sister in law got married a couple weeks ago and the first few months of the year are always so busy for us since about 20 friends we know have birthdays during this time period.

Feeling: lots of pressure in ma belly, faint feeling, serious exhaustion, walking to the train is exhausting me (it's just a simple couple block walk carrying my laptop bag and lunch bag) and makes me feel like I weigh an extra 50 lbs. Thankfully I don't need to go in to the office everyday.

I am still measuring ahead at 32 weeks.

Cravings: nothing really but I am eating finger foods or quick things, avocado, salty things, TJs "healthy" hotdogs (sick but I think I like the salt). I am forcing myself to eat lots of protein, lemon water with honey, butter lettuce, mango.

Aversions: PB, unhealthy food i.e. pizza, burgers, fries

Rings still fit, no swelling of ankles but legs are becoming less defined more like trunks :(

Still no one giving up a train seat for me since I barely look pregnant!  One guy did let me go ahead of him to get a seat but I'm pretty sure that's because I look like a lady.

We had the hospital tour and I started to get nervous about the birth for some reason, maybe it's not nervousness but more of an overwhelming emotion I don't quite know how to process it yet.  No idea, hopefully I'll be able to pinpoint it as his arrival gets closer.

This week we need to spend more time on the relaxation techniques, to get more comfortable for the birth. I was really good about in the first and early second trimester and then it kind of fell away.

Even though I hear most first babies are late, even induced! I want to be prepared 3 weeks early for piece of mind and just in case.

I am going to miss the baby kicks and feeling of being pregnant but I'm sure it is nothing like the joy of having your baby. It's so emotional I can hardly even think about it but at some point I will need to. Maybe that is what is starting to make me nervous about the labor process...who knows...

Weight gain is ~22 lbs

Pregnancy is Like a Marathon

The best way I can characterize pregnancy is classifying it in terms of a major endurance event. It's a grand, long, intense, and trying but beyond rewarding, ending with a tremendous high like you've never experienced.

Part 1, the first trimester = The Swim
Scary land of the unknown, and you spend the entire time anxious for it to be over and praying you make it. The first trimester is a time of apprehension, full of what-ifs. These were regularly filling my mind and it was tough to find a quite moment. While I was so thankful and over-the-moon excited, I was cautiously optimistic.

Part 2, the second trimester = The Bike Ride
This is what many consider the most enjoyable part of pregnancy, your energy is back and while you are still tired and dealing with a few aches and pains, you can coast a bit. Focus on enjoying this time as much as possible. This is a good time to start your registry, attend your shower and do the work to get organized for your bambino(a).

Part 3, the third trimester = The Run
The last piece of the journey and the anticipation has built to an almost unbearable level. This and labor itself, are where the endurance come in, where all the patience you've learned and practice you've done will have their debut. You might be uncomfortable, anxious, and dragging your feet a bit to get things done either because you are so darn tired or because you have another little one(s) to soak up time with before bebe makes the big debut.

As anyone who's been through it before can tell you, the reward is well worth the journey. It's really just the first step of your initiation in to motherhood.

Pregnancy Week 34 - 4.11.13

Written 4.11.13...

We are actually getting close now! Just 6ish weeks until he's here!  Early in my pregnancy 34 weeks was the one I considered getting really close, being here feels crazy. You know when you are a kid and you think you will be old when you are 16, 18, 25, etc? That's how I feel about 34 weeks.

With just about 6 weeks there is nothing really left to do until we get closer and can install the car seat, pack hospital bags etc. I of course will be doing this around the 4 week mark to just get it off my to do list. I have been staring at the same to do list for weeks without being able to check-off anything!  It's driving me crazy because I desperately want everything to be done but feel like it's too early to do it all. I also have a theory that part of when labor sets in is mental, it makes sense that your body is less likely to start the process if mentally you still feel like you have a lot to do. Since I wouldn't be opposed to meeting this baby a little early if he's ready, I want to get this stuff crossed off!

I have everything noted in my Google calendar at the first date that actually makes sense to do it.  I really want to check off things like making witch hazel padsicles and freezer meals but my fabulous husband keeps the freezer way to clean and organized to let something sit there for 6 weeks. The list of what we still have left includes:

  • Padsicles
  • Set-up Pack n' Play
  • Install Car seat (tip: don't put the carrier in the car until you go to the hospital because if you get in an accident some of the safety mechanisms may deploy and you have to get a new one)
  • Organize clothes/toys for 6 months and beyond
  • Organize garage
  • Finish packing hospital bags (baby bag is packed and good to go)
  • Freezer meals
  • Hang nursery art
  • Hang nursery curtains
  • Hang shelves
  • Add legs to ottoman

So maybe there's more than I thought and some things we can actually get done now (YAY!!!)

I've been eating dates a lot, I read there is a chemical in them that prepares your body for labor by softening the cervix. You are supposed to eat 6 every day starting 6 wks from your due date. They are healthy and they curb any other sugar intake cravings so I'm all about it. I will take notes on whether I think it helped.

A wine craving? Well this may have something to do with the fact that we went with both sets of parents to Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga for a fabulous wine tasting and BBQ hosted for folks who purchased their wine futures. Almost a year ago to the day I was roped in to buying futures by my Dad and husband, unfortunately I didn't realize how expensive they were when I said yes. Found that one out a few months later when I couldn't figure out why the alcohol/bar portion of our mint.com spend was so high but that's another story. Oh how things changed in a year.  It's very unfair to take a pregnant lady wine tasting btw, don't do it. I know she can be your sober driver but don't make her do it unless you plan to bring her lots of food and other things to keep her occupied while you spend 5 hours tasting wine.  I did end up taking the teeniest tastes of 3 of the most special old wines because (1) I knew I would never get the opportunity to taste this special wine again (2) my tastes were so small there was literally nothing to swallow after I let it sit on my tongue for a few seconds and (3) I wanted it and at this point I'm so far along that the teensy taste described above will not hurt the baby especially since this wine which is all organic, sans sulfates, etc. That said, it will probably be the end of wine for 6 more weeks unless I go past the 40 week mark and face getting induced, all the mom's I've talked to who were late said their doctors told them a glass of wine/champagne and step up and down on a curbside until exhaustion sets in, sounds excellent right? More than 10 moms with different doctors told me this and they all went in to labor the next day, coincidence maybe? Will i try it? If my doctor says its okay and I am facing an induction, you betcha!

Cravings:

Dark chocolate, wine (weird), smoothies, protein

Weight:
147.2lbs gain of 24.1 lbs

Pregnancy Week 33 - 4.2.13

Written 4.2.13...

How did this happen so fast??

(Super unflattering picture but at least you can see there is a bump! Well, sort of...)

The pregnancy has completely flown by! Partially because you are always waiting for the next thing, at first you wait to hit 13 wks and 1 day, then you wait to find out the gender, then the 20 wk appt to hear if everything is okay, then the milestones you've set up in your head as being important, like the first kicks, 24 wks because your baby will most likely survive outside the womb, and some that you've set up in your own mind like "wow I can't wait to have a big bump at 2X weeks. Then of course there is the birth at ~40wks. It really can be just a waiting game if you don't take the time to enjoy it.

Ever since I passed in to the third trimester I have tried to focus on cherishing every moment of this pregnancy, even the challenging ones. I am enjoying carrying my little boy with me where ever I go, his baby kicks, the (sometimes painful) rolls, the cravings, even the hours upon hours late at night where he is moving so intensely I cannot sleep. It really is incredible and I truly am beyond blessed to experience this. I would not trade it for anything.

We have just 7ish weeks until Baby K's debut and we cannot wait to meet this little one. I feel like I already know some things about him and I can't wait to see if his habits in the womb will be the same outside. I am full of theory's about pregnancy and childbirth and am sure I will gather hypotheses as we move through all the phases ahead...infants, toddlers, adolescents, teenagers (eek!), etc. I can't wait to learn whether the childbirth and infant ones are true.  Although if I'm right this kid will be a late night party animal and I'm perfectly okay being wrong on that front.

Eating:
Dark chocolate, tea, avocado, protein, smoothies

Weight:
145.8 gain of 22.7lbs

Ciao for now!

Pregnancy Week 32 - 3.25.13

Written 3.25.13...

Also known as the week I realized..."Wait I won't be pregnant forever?"

Happy, and scared, and excited, and worried, and thrilled really sums up this week although my husband might call it the week of the grumpies. We have had a lot going on with back to back baby shower weekends, my sister in laws wedding, crazy work schedules, realizing that I won't be pregnant forever (wait I won't?) and just general life occurrences.  We got in to major nesting mode, washing and hanging baby clothes, requesting delivery of furniture ASAP, cleaning everything top to bottom and sitting in the baby room imagining what it will look like when complete. It was stressful and emotional having the realization that I think hits most pregnant women, "HOLY MOLY I won't be pregnant forever? This isn't the new normal? We are having a baby, how are WE having a baby?".  Of course we are beyond thrilled but would be lying if we said we weren't nervous, in fact I think that's normal and if you never felt that and truly aren't kidding yourself then congratulations I think you are 1 in a million (probably more) and I admire your confidence :)   If you are feeling nervous talk to your partner, friends, parents, mom-in-law, other mothers or anyone else. It's not a comfortable or easy thing to say, no pregnant person wants to openly state they are nervous, unsure, don't know how they'll handle this life changing moment. As with anything this significant and incredible it is also scary and IT'S OKAY TO FEEL THAT WAY!!!! I was feeling guilty,  a terrible person for feeling this and I felt much better after the Hubs and I talked about it.  It almost relieved all of those feelings and who knew he was feeling the EXACT same way :). Now we can talk about how we have no idea what to do with a child without the stress and guilt of being terrible parents before we are actually parents.

Anyhow, by the end of the week the grumpies decreased and I was back to my normal self. Addressing the urgent need for chocolate frosting probably helped!  The weekend brought a fabulous 24 hours with my best girl friends and their husbands which also always warms my heart and reminds me that no matter what we'll always have an incredible group of people supporting and rooting for us. This is going to be one well loved baby!

I have been wondering when people will notice I'm pregnant, and the answer? I had to reach 32 weeks and 1 day before I was offered a seat on the train. I will spend the next few weeks working from home so there will only be a few more opportunities to take advantage of pregnancy perks before the little guy joins the world.

Cravings: Chocolate frosting and animal crackers.  Like homemade dunkaroos - legit.

Sugar for some reason, maybe because it's Easter and I can't resist a cadbury egg, or two or lets be honest, 11 of them over the past 2 weeks which if you know me is way to much of a candy binge pregnant or not but I loved every single minute. I  have now had my annual fill and  am no longer eating a cadbury egg a day.

Aversions: Meat

Weight:  145lbs, gain of  21.9lbs

What People Say: Pregnancy

I could probably write a book on this one because I have so many stories...people just can't keep their comments to themselves. Telling people you are expecting is a wonderful and exciting...and then you get the questions from people who need a little more tact and should spend a few minutes just being happy for you.

  • Is the Dad going to get a better job?
  • Oh can you afford to move from your 1 bedroom?
  • You look like you are going to pop, when are you due?
  • Look at your BIG bump?
  • Didn't you JUST have one?
  • You'll never sleep again...
  • You must be having twins...
  • Holy stretch marks!
  • Umm aren't you a little old?
  • What a tiny bump...
  • Same Dad as the first?
  • I just thought you were gaining weight...
  • You look VERY pregnant
  • But, you don't look pregnant?
  • You're getting a second plate?
  • You aren't eating enough for two!
  • Aww your poor stretched out face...
  • Baby is only the size of an avocado, what else is in there?
  • You dyed your hair?!?!
  • But that box of Oreos isn't organic
People have either said these things to me or I've heard them said to others. Probably most people have gotten or heard the "wow you are huge" genre of comments. I hear the opposite observation, for some reason I always appear to be very small, as in half the size of any of my pregnant friends even at D-Day and guess what? I also think it is odd! Every single appointment the doctor told me you look small but you're measuring right on the money.

Although I enjoy avoiding most of the shopping required by pregnancy, it feels odd and anticlimactic to be halfway through your pregnancy, planning the nursery and day-dreaming of maternity leave without even having a single person notice.  As I sit here at 19 weeks barely having to disguise this bump (if you can even call it that) I am realizing I look more like I ate too many burritos than someone who is 19 weeks in to this adventure and it becomes ever-more apparent that I show later and not as much.

Being pregnant you already feel so judged as people evaluate your choices to eat sushi and soft cheese, taste some wine, the pacifiers you put on your registry, the list goes on. They look you up and down every time they see you, cataloging the various changes, her face isn't as bloated as so and so's, her butt is huge, wow her skin looks like it did in middle school when people called her pizza face. I know you do it and you know what, I did too. Through my experiences during my first pregnancy I really noticed how negative and unbecoming it was and vowed to be intentional about my thoughts towards others. Partly because it's the right thing to do and partly because I would never want a child I raise to think it's acceptable to use anything other than kind words towards others. I strongly believe thoughts -->words-->actions and I won't have that unpleasantness (or worse) in my home.

Everything you notice about someone, they see ten-fold, all day, everyday, so let's say positive things and send them positive thoughts. You thought the judgement ended when you left high-school didn't you? Well there's a whole new set of mean girls coming your way and unfortunately they are the girls of old who never found a better way. Unfortunately, this is a reality of life and particularly in the tribe motherhood.

In my first pregnancy I remember going to a bridal shower at 37 weeks for a friend who was 26 weeks. With only two pregnant ladies at the party everyone asked when I was due and you could see the shock, confusion, and then concern that I was so much smaller than my pregnant comrade. I mean her belly was literally twice the size of mine (we did that measure your belly with a string shower game so I know this for a fact) and if I had never been pregnant before I would probably have the same confusion as others but I would hope that the poise taught to me by my southern mother would never allow the emotions to be written all over my face. My friend looked great and healthy btw, not "HUGE" so there was no way for people to mentally reconcile away the difference amd the comments just popped out unfiltered. One mom I've known for 13 years (a MOM! Can you believe that? And she's a Grandma to boot!) in particular was really harping on it asking questions like "the doctor didn't say anything?", "so the baby is healthy?", "are you sure they checked?" "wait so the doctor isn't concerned about the baby's health?".  I mean this went on and on as we sat together watching the
mama-to-be open her gifts so there was no politely excusing myself. I rarely let anything get to me but I remember being so distraught that night and crying in bed about how people could be so judgmental and the world our son will face. The doctor and I knew our baby was healthy and I was offended. I took it as people clearly thinking I was already a clueless and incompetent mother.  And if I am being honest, from that night on I prayed at least once a day that our son would be born weighing more than 8lbs.

When my husband confided in our doctor about this situation he summed up everything I was feeling perfectly, "how offensive, as if they think you wouldn't be worried about this and already have done the research, asked the questions, done the googling..."

Listen, I appreciate the care, concern and attention genuinely given by our friends and family but do you think I'm totally oblivious to these "differences" in my my life, my pregnancy? That I haven't already googled the bejeez out of this, searched the depths of the internet for an answer?

When our sweet boy came out at a healthy 8lbs 1 oz (nearly a whole pound heavier than all the other moms-to-be I knew) the petty side of me thought boo-ya grandma, BAM, in your face nosy on-lookers I have a perfectly healthy baby, normal (not my favorite word) size baby all long (not that weight defines health or that a less hefty baby is less healthy but I think you know what I'm saying here). It's
silly but I felt validated.

Obviously this kind of negative talk and judgement goes far beyond interactions with pregnant women so let's remember and strive to keep things positive in all facets of our lives and at the very very least be nice to the hormonal, sweaty, pregnant ladies because they took the leap of faith to construct a human while both tending to business as usual and sacrificing life as they know it for forever and ever and ever.

So what can you say to a pregnant woman? An emphatic (1) Congratulations!! and (2) You look GREAT!

    Some News...

It's pretty far along to share this news but with all the busy-ness of the past few months, exhaustion, food aversions and chasing a toddler who runs everywhere. We are so thankful to announce we'll be welcoming a little girl in to our family this June.

I'm currently 18 weeks along and finally started feeling normal at 16 weeks. The morning sickness started so early with this one, (at about 4 wks) I was sure I had the flu that would never end and finally realized what this probably meant. After three months of intense food aversions and really boring meals I've come out on the other side feeling normal again.

The Bair picked up his first serious cold which he's passed around (to even the extended family) so as I currently recover from it I am really looking forward to getting better and feeling more useful.

She's due in about 6 months, plenty of time to get things in order but with Christmas and showers already planned I am feeling I pressure to nail down what we need for her. We spent a little time shopping yesterday and it felt odd to be in the girls section, like I couldn't be buying for my own daughter (for some reason I thought I would have a couple boys first, then a girl). Anyone who knows me knows I firmly stay away from the "girlier" items like pink, flowers, bows and ruffles. I still think it's so cute on other babies (no judgement) it's just not my jam and never has been even since I was very young. In a nutshell I want to dress her in mostly the type of things I would wear and basics that go with everything, save a hair clip or tie for a pebbles-like ponytail because that is just too cute (now she'll probably be bald for a year and half). These parameters really narrow the options but hasn't been too much to ask. It was good to see that even with my pinhole focus I could find a few things even at the most mainstream stores.

I know you're thinking I'll probably give this girl some type of complex but as soon as she is old enough to choose I would love her to pick out whatever she wants to wear - until she's a teenager of course and then there will be a whole new set of "cover up the goodies" parameters. So I think I'll avoid any long term damage but we'll start putting away money for the therapist just in case.

If you have any ideas for some non-pink/flowery nurseries please pass them along. I think I'm leaning towards white furniture with gold and navy accents, maybe a little aqua too if this palette seems to bland.

    Pregnancy Week 14 - 11.19.12

    Written 11.19.12...

Baby is the size of a...

The name of the game for this little lemon is RICE.

Apparently I now love rice, of all kinds with all available add-ins and spices.  I was never much of a rice fan but le bebe is all about it. I was starving while picking up some one-offs at Whole Foods and headed to the deli where I scooped up three kinds of rice. I also grabbed some kale and butternut squash for good measure trying to force some veggies in me. I don't know if other mothers have this thought but "How is baby not enjoying the foods I normally eat?" and "Why am I a carb monster?"  I've never been a big fan of any bread, rice, pasta unless it is top tier sourdough bread eaten with seafood. Being pregnant is another story, we have black rice in our pantry that I cannot stop thinking about. When I consider pairing it with something normal like salmon or a salad I want to excuse myself to the toilet so at this rate I may just be eating black rice with....more black rice?

I am very much looking forward to our Thanksgiving with both families and celebrating all the great things that are in store for our family. My sister bought a house, Hubby's sister is about to get engaged (my personal prediction from 7 months ago), and of course Baby K. We will also have the opportunity to spend some quality time with the Hub's little cousin who is a blast and warms my heart.

    Feeling:
Pretty good, still tired and having trouble staying up past 8pm

    Eating:
    RICE
Bland things like mashed white potatoes (what?)

    Aversions:
Still no nut butters except Skippy natural (non-pregnant me would not eat this) and Justin's PB is semi-ok. I only bought it so I could force myself to stop eating Skippy
Vegetables, especially the green leafy variety
    Almond milk
    ALL meat

    Thoughts:
Only 1 week until we know what this little bean is and obviously I can't wait!!

    Pregnancy Week 13 - 11.14.12

    Written 11.14.12

    Welcome to Trimester 2!

I can't believe we only have 2 weeks until we know what the little bean is, I can't wait :)

Baby K is almost all registered for his goodies, I just need to do a little more research and registry clean up this weekend. Some of these decisions were a little overwhelming so I am very pleased we have it done early!

    Feeling:
My energy is up and I actually pulled off staying up past midnight. Typically not advisable but was necessary to keep on dancing at my oldest friends wedding. (Congratulations S and C!)

    Eating:

I ate my first piece of meat in weeks, flank steak and a rib, it was good. Oddly the smell made me feel like I needed it immediately.  The second and third piece of flank steak were not so hot so maybe I was fooled by the smell or only needed a little bit of protein.

Pasteurized eggnog, love the Strauss kind with a fiery passion and was beyond excited
to find out this was pasteurized! Lucky me and Baby K!

    Aversions:
Peanut butter - I think I had a bad batch as part of the recalls this summer and I'm convinced that my morning sickness was kicked off by consuming too much of this over a 4 day weekend
    Chicken
    Eggs (sometimes)

The usual breakfast of rice cereal and almond milk is no longer working, I got sick on the train to work and almost fainted. It was pretty awful and actually pretty scary.

    Thoughts and Surprises:

We saw our friends adorable little son who is just the sweetest, although he wouldn't let me hold him this time. We used to be buds but he just really wanted his mama. Sad face, but it must be so fulfilling to know your little one just wants to be with YOU.

I shared the news with my bosses this week and both were great about it. One has one year old baby so he had some great advice and we had a nice chat about it. They seem excited for us which is perfect and just what I hoped for.

    Pregnancy Week 12 - 11.7.12 & 11.8.12

    Written 11.7.12...

Almost there!!!! On Saturday I will finally be through the first trimester.

We have our 12 wk ultrasound on Thursday and I can't wait to see the little Bebe, I may have high expectations for this visit. I have heard/read about ppl's babies dancing around and doing a lot of moving so hopefully i get to see something like that in movies it seems like the little beans just hang around not a lot of jumping. maybe we'll even see some thumb sucking :) :) :)

    Written 11.8.12...

We had our ultrasound and our little guy is starting to look less like a bean and more like a baby. Ok maybe more like an alien but it is exciting to see the arms, legs, etc. what a miracle!

    Feeling:

EXCITED!!!! To finish breaking the news. Tired but not too hormonal. Generally and consistently nauseous but nothing crazy.

    Eating:

    Anything that is not sweet
Indian food but baby is not down for this - this is a mom craving. I requested a double order of my favorite Indian food which is very tasty and very expensive so I had a private chat with baby about helping me keep this down. Indian 3 days in a row so far and trying for 1 more time tomorrow, maybe I'm pushing my luck?

    Aversion:

Sweet things - like at all sweet, pretzels and smoothies are too sweet!
All nut butters - didn't think that was possible
    Nuts (besides peanuts)
Meat - the smell especially, yuck!

    Surprises:

This week the baby develops reflexes and learns to hiccup. On day 1 I randomly got hiccups in spurts anywhere from 1-5. I like to think the baby was giving me some hiccups.

    Pregnancy Week 11 - 11.1.12

    Written 11.1.12....

I cannot wait to be 13 weeks and 1 day!  Sort of feels like nothing is happening right now. I was oddly sicker than the past couple weeks. Up to week 9 I was pretty nauseous and its slowly gotten better then the end of this week was just tough, always tired and consistently nauseous. I needed to eat immediately upon waking but was less hungry throughout the day and am getting full more easily. My nightstand is stocked with sleeves of saltines and I've been eating about a box a week.

I am still working on little daily rituals to connect with Baby K. I try to have a silent moment at night and in the morning to pray and imagine what Baby is doing in there. Sometimes I think I might feel a flutter or twinge but I'm sure its my heart beat in my stomach not le bebe. I can't wait to feel my first kick, it is going to be THE BEST!

    Feeling:
Hormonal, probably better than other weeks but maybe because I don't feel great, it's as if I'm too tired to be annoyed, angry, or upset.

    Eating:

Mustard on everything (what can I eat it on that isn't meat?)
Peanuts, just once and I never want to see them again
Cold smoothies all day e'rrr day (only way to get veggies)
    TJs brown rice cereal

    Aversions:

    Meat
    Spinach and cooked veggeis
    Peanut / almond butter

    Surprises:
Silly me I thought 27 year olds could keep secrets about serious things like pregnancy especially when all their best friends already know. I learned my lesson about telling folks early, if you don't want anyone to know don't tell anyone :) I prefer to think friends share our news because they are excited for us rather than spending an ounce of time being upset about it.

    Pregnancy Week 10 - 10/24/12

    Written 10/24/12...

It's week 10 and I would venture to say most everyone knows the big news. We tried to keep the secret but due to our social calendar as of late, it was nearly impossible to keep this to ourselves. Saying no thank you to booze is a clear sign among my group of childless 27 year olds. It's even more obvious when your significant other slyly (loudly) tells the waiter/parents/wedding guests/co-workers that his wife doesn't need a glass for wine tonight. Thanks babe ;)

    Feeling:
Much less tired than last week and actually made it past 10pm three nights in a row. I was also able to prepare food for the first time in three weeks (starting 2 days into week 6 I was adverse to the look and smell of 99% of all foods).

    Eating:
Goldfish, not because I want them but because I don't not want them.  The list of things I haven't wanted to eat is very long.

    Surpirses:
    - This is flying by!
    - I can't get enough of the baby research whether its about baby gear, pregnancy, delivery, nursing, I.LOVE.IT.ALL!
    - So much new found energy this week and starting to feel more like a real person.
    - I am consistently starving and eating cold overnight oats while I type this.
